About

Sounds Experience is the label set up by contributors to the Sounds XP webzine. We have been writing about the music we cherish since 2001 and in recent years we’ve been releasing some of it too! Sounds Experience is also about promoting music and we have run a series of successful nights at various venues in London.  Feel free to contact us if you have a demo you want us to hear or about putting on a gig.

    • MJ Hibbett & The Validators - The Battle Of Peterborough single review May 30, 2012
As far as bonkers ideas go, MJ Hibbett & The Validators writing an indiepop concept album about space dinosaurs invading Norwich certainly is one. What could have ended up as a cringeworthy and forgettable 'wacky' album turned out to be remarkably entertaining, witty and cleverly thought out. It was an accomplishment that deserved a round of ap […]

King Tuff releases his new self-titled album this week, it's his second in total and first on the acclaimed Sub Pop label. We recently gave you free track 'Bad Thing', and now here's another, 'Keep On Movin'', which you can stream below or download here. […]
    • Onions May 30, 2012
The first time I came across Onions was in 2007. Where have those five years gone? I’ve squandered them but Onions have been working on their debut album, in between releasing a few singles, and here is the finished article in the form of ‘Pleasure Blast’ and a blast of pleasure it is. The opening track ‘An IE Or A Y’ has that trademark Onions sound stamped […]

    • Violens - True album review May 29, 2012
Much like the batch of recent artists labelled as 'chillwave', this second album from New York trio Violens takes elements of the past thirty years of synth-pop, indie and shoegaze and pieces them together to create an entirely modern sound. The outcome is similar in that these songs glide by in a soft-focus manner with a hazey glow and effected vo […]
    • 2:54 - The March free MP3 May 29, 2012
The Thurlow sisters and co. release their self-titled debut album this week and 'The March' is typical of their brooding alt-rock sound.
    • Muj - Got You single review May 29, 2012
Although formed and based in the USA where the pair met at college, Muj are a duo of Turkish descent and the music they create reflects their transcontinental journey, mixing a variety of familiar genres with the influence of traditional Turkish structures and sounds. It's a great approach that gives their style-mashing music a slightly exotic bent that […]
    • She's So Rad - Confetti free MP3 May 28, 2012
New Zealanders She's So Rad have just put up a new single called 'Confetti'. Is a glorious piece of dreamy shoegaze and it's yours for free, you lucky people!
    • Vadoinmessico - Archaeology of the Future review May 27, 2012
Heard the one about the Englishman, Italian, Mexican, Austrian and, er, another Italian? Well, they formed a psychedelic folk band and lived happily ever after. Not funny? Well, it's not supposed to be, as it's the true story of Vadoinmessico, a planet spanning group of musicians who came together in London and produced this rather enjoyable album. […]
